History
Families First Edmonton (FFE) emerged from Listen to the Children, a 2000 report of the Alberta Quality of Life Commission coupled with several high profile Commission members advocating a call to action. The report explored the thoughts and feelings of Edmonton children living in poverty.

The Investment
Families First Edmonton required an investment of $6.6 million to provide two years of programming for families, complete the interim research and develop recommendations. This investment is a fraction of the combined costs of the social, health and recreational services currently available to low income families.
The research component required an additional investment of $4 million over six years. This research provided an opportunity to demonstrate leadership, vision and compassion. Collectively, project partners and community can better understand the impacts of services and plot a course of action to achieve the best results for all Albertans - for those who are in need, and for those who want to feel confident that their tax dollars and charitable contributions are doing the greatest good. Supporting Families First Edmonton means strengthening families, and investing in children and families for a brighter future.
