Making a Difference Now
The Families First Edmonton (FFE) research study/project is already making a difference in the lives of low income families.
Knowledge gained through each of the research processes has initiated changes in service delivery knowledge and practices. These include:
- Increasing collaborative partnerships across community agencies
- Engaging multicultural and Aboriginal communities
- Understanding families' experience with systems
- Understanding service delivery agency experiences
FFE families say their involvement in the project has:
- Improved their access to employment and education options
- Improved their access to urgent health care
- Improved their access to recreation and leisure opportunities
- Given them a better understanding of programs and services
- Given them a better understanding of application processes
